The Vietnam Airlines 2024 amenity kit, a collaboration with Samsonite, is a huge improvement over the previous release from 2023. I flew on Vietnam airlines in business class from Tokyo Haneda airport in Japan to Hanoi airport in Vietnam in July 2024, and love the latest design - which features a high quality, well-sized & durable case.

In mid-July 2024, I flew on Vietnam airlines in business class from Tokyo Haneda airport in Japan to Hanoi airport in Vietnam.

This is a direct repeat of a Vietnam Airlines route I’ve previously taken and reviewed in much detail in 2023, when I was actually flying from Tokyo to Hanoi and then onwards to Frankfurt on another Vietnam Airlines flight.

Flying the carrier in 2024, I’ve noticed Vietnam airlines has massively upgraded their business class amenity kits.

This amenity kit, a collaboration with Samsonite, is a huge improvement over the previous release from 2023, which was average or below average at best.

I really like the design of this new amenity kit and I was so excited when I got to see it.

The Previous Vietnam Airlines Amenity Kit

The previous Vietnam Airlines amenity kit was nothing special. It came in a pretty plain looking pouch by Parfume Charriol, and had one zipper on the top that didn’t open along the sides.

The quality seemed average for the case, although the contents are similar to the current case. The amenity kit did include a bunch of useful items – including a comb that I still use often.

Honestly, I haven’t touched these amenity kits since my flight, and never plan to use them again. By contrast, the new Samsonite amenity kit is pretty awesome.

Vietnam Airlines Samsonite Amenity Kit (2024)

I found my amenity kit at my seat, part of other in-flight amenities offered by the airline on international flights.

The Samsonite and Vietnam Airlines amenity kit collaboration comes in a very compact form.

The amenity kit is only 4 inches tall by 8 inches long.

Essentially, it’s like two square amenity kits put together into one large rectangular amenity kit.

The amenity kit is also roughly one and a half inches wide.

I did notice something that this amenity kit that is actually oriented upright, given the layout of the Samsonite logo.

I also noticed a manufacturing defect on my specific case – the case I received had a slightly oblong shape on one side. One corner was wider than the other corner but just by a few millimeters.

This amenity kit is a very high-quality polyester like material with a very light striped and checkered pattern.

They’re actually two folds within the front face of the amenity kit to get the case, some texture and style.

There’s a large Samsonite logo on one end that is right along a fold and the same.

And additional detail is the Samsonite logo is actually on a rubber flap, which is semi see-through in the back

The zipper open more than halfway down the sides of the kit.

In fact, this amazing design has the zipper opening almost 3/4 of the way down the side of the amenity kit.

If you’re a frequent reader of my amenity kit reviews, you’ll know that this is one of my favorite design features as it allows the amenity kid to be open wide and used in many multifunctional ways.

This alone is also a massive upgrade over Vietnam airlines previous amenity kit.

The zipper tag is also a very high-quality gray metal glossy finish.

On one side, you have the Samsonite logo printed, and on the other side, you have the Vietnam airlines logo printed.

The inside of the amenity kit is very simple. It’s a standard Polyester vinyl interior. There are no additional pouches or details of any kind.

Unlike the previous edition of Vietnam Airlines, this one does not have a logo on the inside of the case.

However, as I previously noted, the case itself is quite thick and seems very durable.

Overall this is a really sexy design, and I also think that the thickness of the case makes it extremely high-quality and seems very durable.

Vietnam Airlines Samsonite Amenity Kit Contents

  • Moisturizing lotion by Sprekenhus
  • Lip Balm (Lip Butter) by Sprekenhus
  • Comb
  • Eye Mask
  • Toothbrush and Toothpaste
  • Comfort Socks
  • Earplugs
  • Stickers
  • Contents Sheet

The Vietnam Airlines amenity kit is also full of some pretty useful items.

First, you’ve got some lip butter and body lotion by Sprekenhus, which is a Norwegian brand that comes from Oslo.

The lip butter is provided in a small circular jar with a black cap. The body lotion is also provided in a standard white tube.

Then you’ve got your standard toothbrush and toothpaste, kit, as well as earplugs, which come in paper packaging.

Vietnam Airlines also provides a very nifty comb, which has a brush on one side and a comb on the other side.

There’s also a small black eye mask, and a set of black comfort socks included as well.

The mask seems like a small size, but does fit fully over your eyes. I didn’t find the comfort socks to be that high-quality and probably best only for one use.

One of the weirdest and most unique things are Vietnam airlines is the stickers that are included within the amenity kit. Basically, there are multiple stickers to the flight attendant instructions in the event that you were sleeping and don’t want to be disturbed.

There is one please do not disturb and there are also two stickers for wake up service. One sticker is to wake up for duty-free service and shopping on the airline, where is the other is to wake up the passenger for the meal. There’s also a fourth sticker that is an instruction card to fix one of the stickers onto the seat headrest.

I’ve never seen any other airlines do this except for Vietnam Airlines. I do completely understand why and it makes sense as this is entirely for passenger comfort.

My only other comment on the amenity kit – there’s a pretty wide range of manufacturing quality for these cases. For example, look at the image above – one case is clearly thicker than the other. The cases are high quality, but the manufacturing quality is substantially different.

Final Thoughts

The Vietnam Airlines Samsonite amenity kit is a massive upgrade over the previous Vietnam Airlines Parfume Charrol amenity kit.

I was not expecting to get this, and I actually really, really love the design.

It’s sized really well – compact, yet spacious.

It’s thin, but also wide and could fit all kinds of contents.

The material is durable, and the zippers open halfway down the sides to make extremely useful.

There are a few manufacturing defects, but never-the-less the case is thick and durable.

I’ll definitely be using this case for my travels!
