JetBlue Mint Debuts New Caraa Amenity Kits

2024-05-03
Sam Helmy
JetBlue launched two new amenity kits. One for international long haul flights, mainly those to and from Europe. And another kit for domestic routes and international short haul.

JetBlue Mint is using new amenity kits this spring as of March 13th and April 1st, 2024. The airline is featuring two new kits, one for domestic Mint routes and the other for International Mint routes. Both amenity kits are by Caraa, the New York City sport bag and accessory company that “reimagines bags for modern life, mixing high function with beautifully fashioned materials to create the next-gen luxury bag for the modern traveler.”

The kits are a huge upgrade over the last iteration of Mint amenity kits, and a step in the right direction for JetBlue. We think the International long haul kit by Caraa is particularly both high quality and innovative. Here is what you need to know about JetBlue’s new Mint amenity kits.

When Did The New Mint Amenity Kits Launch?

JetBlue launched its long-haul international amenity kits on March 13, 2024; these are available on the airline’s longer international routes to Europe, including services to London, Paris, and Amsterdam.

The domestic kits launched a little later, and despite launching on April 1, 2024, they were no April’s fool. These are available on the airline’s domestic Mint routes as well as its shorter Mint international routes—mainly those to and from the Caribbean.

The Sleep Kit by Tuft & Needle

The sleep kit, consisting of socks, earplugs, and an eye mask, is at the heart of JetBlue’s new amenity kit. These are available in both versions of the new amenity kits. By all accounts, these look to be high quality and soft, comfortable. All these items are from Tuft and Needle.

The JetBlue Mint international amenity kit is designed by Caraa. Only one color choice is available – the long-haul amenity kit is only available as a Charcoal mesh bag. However, the clever design feature of these kits is that they convert to an easy-to-use drawstring mint-colored tote-backpack for everyday use.

This backpack style makes it very convenient to store all the items in the kit and a host of other materials like books, kindles, and the like. JetBlue has suggested these be used as a travel day pack, a hotel gym bag, or as a beach tote.

The contents come from several suppliers, including much beloved Tuft & Needle whom have a long standing partnership with JetBlue, and new skincare entrant Dr. Dennis Gross. The oral hygiene products in the kits are from New York-based Plus Ultra.

The kit includes the following:

  • Eye mask
  • Earplugs
  • Socks
  • A Moso Bamboo toothbrush by Plus Ultra
  • Small mint toothpaste by Plus Ultra
  • A small mouthwash by Plus Ultra
  • Hyaluronic Marine Oil-Free Facial Moisture Cushion by Dr. Dennis Gross
  • Hydrate + Smooth Hand Treatment Moisturizer by Dr. Dennis Gross
  • Ultra Gentle Daily Peel treatment by Dr. Dennis Gross
  • Moisture-Lock Lip Balm by Dr. Dennis Gross

JetBlue Mint Short Haul Amenity Kit

The new Mint domestic amenity kits launched on April 1st, and are also designed by Caraa. These are designed as a snappable pouch meant to hold all travel essentials.

The short-haul kits are not as extensive as their long-haul cousins. However, they are much more colorful.

These Caraa amenity kits are available in 4 colors:

  • Sage
  • Clay
  • Sand
  • Gunmetal

While some items can be found in both kits, they are not identical. The domestic kits include the following items:

  • Eye mask
  • Earplugs
  • Socks
  • A small mouthwash by Plus Ultra
  • Moisture-Lock Lip Balm by Dr. Dennis Gross
  • Hydrate + Smooth Hand Treatment Moisturizer by Dr. Dennis Gross
  • Ultra Gentle Daily Peel Treatment by Dr. Dennis Gross

One thing to note is that the Ultra Gentle Daily Peel Treatment is not a face mask type of treatment. Instead, it is a wipe treatment that is applied several minutes apart, one after the other.

Here at Oscape, we are looking forward to trying out JetBlue’s new amenity kit. The last major domestic JetBlue Mint flight we have published was from JFK to LAX last year. While the service was excellent, and JetBlue Mint delivered on many different levels, the absence of an amenity kit was noticeable. It took a little of the shine off the quality of the soft product JetBlue offers. In all honesty, any business class flight should have an amenity kit of some kind, even a bare-bones one.

How The 2024 Kit Compares to the 2023 JetBlue Amenity Kit

The new amenity kit stacks up much more impressively against previous JetBlue Amenity kit versions. These amenity kits were by Wanderfuel, and were a charcoal gray recycled cardboard pouch meant to be tossed and discarded after use.

The last one Oscape sampled was on a flight from Seattle SEA to New York JFK near the end of last year. The contents of the amenity kit also included the Sleep Kit by Tuft & Needle, developed in conjunction with JetBlue.

The contents of the older 2023 kits included:

  • Eye mask
  • Earplugs
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Socks
  • Ursa Major essential face wipe.
  • Lip balm
  • Citrus Salt Recharge – a special electrolyte drink mix.
The older JetBlue domestic amenity kit

While interesting and unique in the discardable and guilt-free approach, the old-style kits were not as impressive-feeling as those offered on many other airlines. Oscape did appreciate the lip balm and the electrolyte drink on the flight.

Final Thoughts

It is always great news to see airlines upping their game and either improving or revamping an existing product or introducing a new amenity to an existing product line to make it even better. JetBlue has clearly listened to many travelers and is taking steps to keep up with its main competitors in the US, which have all revamped their domestic amenity kits in the last couple of years or so.

What makes this move from JetBlue even sweeter is how much thought has gone into the amenity kit and its design, especially the international long-haul kit. The whole concept of the amenity kit converting into a tote-bag day sack is brilliant and adds an entire level of usefulness to the kit.

The new JetBlue amenity kit stands up well to those from some of the more established carriers worldwide. I can’t wait to try them on my next Mint flight!
