This 2019-era boutique design hotel in Nihombashi-Hamacho is served by three different subway lines within 10-minute walk, which make it the perfect base to explore Tokyo. If that is not enough, the restaurant serves s delicious breakfast and dinner.
Not forgetting the rooms which are simply fantastic. They are beautifully decorated, with soft sheets, excellent amenities, and the value can’t be beaten.
The Hamacho Hotel is very comfortable to stay at and is one of my favorites when visiting this area in Tokyo. However, since I will be visiting the area repeatedly during 2023, I will be expanding on this review as I try more of the hotels’ services and products.
Hamacho Hotel Location & Access
The hotel is located in the heart of the Hamacho-Nihonbashi neighborhood of Tokyo. Although It’s not the closest hotel to the subways, it is very central, making it easy to reach from the city’s heart.
That being said, three different subway lines within a 10 minutes’ walk from the property. The Hamacho-Nihonbashi neighborhood can be described as “Upscale Residential”; however, office buildings are also nearby.
Getting to the Hmacho hotel is easy from Tokyo’s Haneda airport. It is approximately five minutes walk from this neighborhood’s T-CAT bus terminal.
If you don’t know, the T-CAT bus terminal offers a direct, non-stop service to Haneda and Narita airports. The journeys take 30 and 45 minutes, respectively.
This hotel is an ideal choice if you have a stopover or longish transit in Tokyo. It is the perfect compromise in being close to the airports yet close to the center of Tokyo itself.
I visited the Hamacho and departed using the T cat to T-CAT for my Japan Air Lines First Class flight to Chicago!
Booking and Check In
I booked this hotel about as last minute as it gets and the old-fashioned way. A few days prior to my stay. I actually just showed up at the front desk and asked for availability.
My intention was to use the hotel as a work HQ for some New York projects. These would entail many calls that would otherwise be disturbing. So I wasn’t looking for a fancy room, something very basic.
However, even last minute, pricing for a Twin Room was very reasonable, only setting me back $150-195 USD per night with all taxes and fees included.
Check-in was a simple process, and I paid on the spot. I also received a small chocolate with the Key access and WiFi information.
Hamacho Hotel Style and Character
The Hamcho Hotel is an incredibly elegant hotel with modern interior and exterior decor. In terms of style is a very Japanese-modern style that is also scattered with green plants/walls on the exterior of the building.
I found the character to be very attractive and somewhat similar to my experience in the Japan Air Lines First Class Lounge at the Haneda Airport in Tokyo.
In terms of lights it was classy and elegant while being dimly lit at night. I can easily imagine coming here on a date or for a classy dinner.
That being said, for my purposes, this Hotel was very comfortable and fit the bill perfectly.
Hamacho Hotel Rooms
The Hamacho hotel has a wide selection of rooms on offer. Each room has its own different set of features and amenities. The hotel website does a great job of describing each room type.
Although I ended up going for a twin room, I could have chosen from any of the following types of rooms:
- Semi-Double Room
- Double Room
- Corner Double Room
- Twin Room
- Universal Room
- Family Room
- Terrace Room
- Premium Terrace Room
Of all the features of the Hamacho hotel, my favorite feature is the terrace gardens and large windows in each and every room. Even staying in a twin room, you can see these balconies with a garden.
Unfortunately, you cannot physically walk onto the balcony; but it is certainly beautiful and very elegant.
Twin Room
As my stays were basically last-minute bookings that I was using strictly to work, I chose the Twin Room for both my stays at the hotel. Even though I wasn’t looking for anything expensive or fancy, the rooms were excellent.
During my stay, I was given rooms on 2 different floors, rooms 707 and 1207. Despite that, the room design was exactly identical between the floors.
The room itself can be described as cozy and also provides a beautiful green botanical view over the balcony.
The room itself is equipped with two single beds and a bench sofa. You can choose to either drop your luggage, stretch out your legs, or work at the small movable table.
Twin Room Amenities
Each room comes fully loaded with a substantial list of amenities. In addition, the Hotel itself also offers an array of amenities to all guests. However, I didn’t have the chance to try these out during my stay fully.
Each room has the following set of amenities.
- Bottled waters.
- A coffee maker with cups.
- Table napkins.
- Pair of slippers.
- Shoe polisher at your disposal.
The bathrooms in the room also feature a substantial list of amenities, including:
- Shampoo.
- Body wash.
- Conditioner.
- Hand Soap.
- Tissues.
- Glass.
Aside from the room, the hotel offers other amenities, including:
- Coin-operated laundry.
- An Ironing Station.
- A set of two vending machines – I used these often to grab cans of heated coffee.
- A gym.
Final Thoughts
Overall this was a great hotel to stay at! The stay was very comfortable, the location was great, and the amenities are perfect, also, the WiFi was quick and Stable.
I enjoyed the food for both Dinner and Breakfast immensely.
Even with the last-minute booking, I found the pricing to be reasonable for a hotel in this location, even with the included features.
Would I stay here again definitely, and I will update this review as I try more room types overtime on my future stays in 2023 in Tokyo, Japan.
