This is undoubtedly one of the Best Delta Sky Club lounges I have ever seen. I was heading to Japan on an ANA flight from Vancouver, and I was positioning to San Francisco SFO to start my trip. My day started when I arrived from the East Coast on Delta Redeye arriving at 8:30 a.m. I opted to use the Delta Sky Club on arrival instead of the old Air Canada lounge because that was located all the way over in terminal 3.
This Delta Sky Club is new, having opened a few weeks before my visit. The service was excellent, and they even had a first for me. One of the agents first came and offered me some free goodies. But then, a different agent introduced me to the manager, who came and spoke to me. She told me a bit about herself and asked if I noticed anything in the Sky Club.
Overall, the lounge delivered excellent service and products, with great food and drink options and comfortable seating. Also, it never got crowded, which can be a big problem with Delta Sky Clubs in the last couple of years.
Delta Sky Club Location & Entry
The new Delta Sky Club is located at San Francisco Terminal 2 on the C Concourse. Initially, it looked like it could be pretty busy since the entryway is tiny and congested—a check-in area with just two stations.
However, once you pass this choke point, stairs lead to a much larger upper level. This opens up into a much larger reception area with additional desks staffed by attendants.
Delta Sky Club Layout and Space
The Delta Sky Club has tons of space with very tall ceilings in a large open room format. The space is separated into different seating areas using architecture and décor.
Overall, the lounge has many different seating options and zones, ranging from single seats to sofas, single and dual tables, and even high table seating. Almost every single table had a power port, even side tables, which is outstanding.
The middle of the room features a large bar with some bar seating. This is a great spot to sit and watch the world go by. At the front of the lounge, you can have fantastic views of the runway, so much so that if you are a fan, you can sit and watch planes take off and land all day.
To the back of the lounge is a darker area geared more towards working, with tables and comfortable seating. There is also a magazine and news rack in the rear of the bar.
One thing that stood out on my visit was the staff. They were brilliant; everyone here took time to talk to and greet me, which you don’t usually see.
Lounge Features
The lounge has lots of seating options, although I did notice many of the seating options were designed in such a way to make it difficult to sleep.
The lounge also featured two coffee and tea areas, the large bar mentioned above, and the food and drink area.
Delta Sky Club Bathrooms
Oddly enough, there are not many bathrooms in this lounge, so you could end up queuing if things get busy. There is only one male and a single female bathroom for the whole lounge.
The bathrooms feature dark finishes with red accents and backlighting.
Delta Sky Club Wi-Fi
I found the Wi-Fi in the lounge to be very fast and stable, and it was great for spending a few hours working away. The Wi-Fi code is posted at the check-in desk, and various counters are scattered around the lounge. Once you connect, you need to sign in to use the service.
Delta Sky Clube Shower
The Delta Sky Club has two shower rooms that you can book to freshen up between long flights. Booking the showers was very simple. I asked at the front desk. They took my last name, and I was booked in within a minute.
The large shower rooms have a beautiful exterior display with towels. These are not for use and are only a decoration. Once inside, the rooms are massive across the board. There is a huge shower, sink area, mirror, and even enormous toilet seats.
Shower amenities
The shower rooms are let down by the lack of amenities, which are few and far between. I asked for a comb but was told they didn’t have one.
Delta Sky Club Food & Beverage
The food and beverage offerings in the lounge were outstanding. It was well-stocked, with plenty of delicious food and snacks. Furthermore, the staff stayed on top of the buffet, and it was well maintained and regularly replenished about once an hour.
The lounge seemed to switch from breakfast to lunch at around 11 a.m., and once they did so, the selection on offer was greatly enhanced.
The lounge offers hot and cold meals, and while I enjoyed my Thai Curry, the sandwiches and snacks also looked delicious, not to mention the desserts.
The food presentation was outstanding, and the Sky Club staff ensured everything looked great. However, this was the first day of the summer menu, so I don’t know if the extra nice presentation was related to that or not.
There was also a good selection of drinks, including an excellent selection of alternative beers such as Elysian IPA and the Mango Wheat Ale.
Final Thoughts
This Delta Sky Club took me by surprise and is probably the best I have ever visited. The staff was outstanding, and the lounge was beautiful, with stunning architecture and very comfortable seating.
The Sky Club is the perfect place to relax between flights, although I could definitely have an extended stay here. With many different spaces to use, fabulous views of the runway, great working stations, and an excellent choice of food, snacks, and beverages, there is nothing not to like about spending a few hours in this space.
This lounge stands head and shoulders above many other Delta Sky Clubs I have used in the past, which was a delightful surprise!
